My Personal Opinion on Illusion Tadami Yamada I'm sometimes called a fantasy (or illusion) painter. I've never called myself one, but I don't think I've ever particularly denied it when people have said it. I have felt a bit troubled by it internally, though. For the past ten years or so, I've consciously changed my methods of creating art. The fundamental themes I explore through painting haven't changed, but the way I express them has. This has affected the texture of my paintings; previously, I used to create smooth finishes that left no brushstrokes, but recently, a coexistence of meticulousness and roughness has resulted in textures that can only be appreciated from the original artwork. Generally speaking, the texture of a painting has nothing to do with whether or not it's a fantasy painting, but in my case, various internal factors are intertwined in this change of direction, so I can't say that the way I create the texture is unrelated to ...
